太田成男(Shigeo Ohta),日本醫(yī)科大學(xué)老年病研究所首席教授,1951年生于日本福島縣。1974年畢業(yè)于東京大學(xué)理學(xué)部。1979年完成東京大學(xué)研究生部藥學(xué)系研究科博士課程后,歷任瑞士巴塞爾大學(xué)生命中心研究所研究員,自治醫(yī)科大學(xué)講師、副教授,自1994年起任現(xiàn)職。他從30余年的研究中發(fā)現(xiàn),線粒體所具有的機(jī)能,和人的身心健康密切相關(guān)。他是日本線粒體研究最著名的科學(xué)家第。先后擔(dān)任日本線粒體學(xué)會(huì)理事長(zhǎng)、日本Cell Death學(xué)會(huì)理事長(zhǎng)、氫分子生物醫(yī)學(xué)研究會(huì)理事長(zhǎng)等職務(wù)。著有與作家瀨名秀明氏合著的《與線粒體共存》(角川書店)、《線粒體的威力》(新潮社)等多部著作。
在氫氣生物學(xué)效應(yīng)領(lǐng)域,太田教授于2007年7月在國(guó)際著名醫(yī)學(xué)雜志《自然醫(yī)學(xué)》上發(fā)表第一篇關(guān)于少量氫氣治療疾病的研究,提出氫氣選擇性抗氧化的新概念,啟動(dòng)了氫氣治療疾病的國(guó)際研究熱潮。該文章發(fā)表以來,引起國(guó)際學(xué)術(shù)界的極大關(guān)注,目前已經(jīng)被引用450多次,來自日本、中國(guó)和美國(guó)等國(guó)家的眾多學(xué)者圍繞呼吸氫氣、飲用氫氣水和注射氫氣鹽水等對(duì)各類疾病治療效果的評(píng)價(jià)進(jìn)行了廣泛研究,已經(jīng)先后用動(dòng)物試驗(yàn)研究證明氫氣對(duì)80多種重要疾病具有治療作用。太田教授聯(lián)合美國(guó)的張和教授、Nakao教授和中國(guó)的孫學(xué)軍教授于2011年5月創(chuàng)辦《醫(yī)學(xué)氣體研究》雜志,目前已經(jīng)成為氫氣生物醫(yī)學(xué)研究學(xué)術(shù)論文發(fā)表的最主要期刊。
太田教授是氫氣生物學(xué)的奠基人,不僅提出了氫氣治療疾病的選擇性抗氧化理論,而且率先在國(guó)際上證明氫氣對(duì)腦缺血、肝臟缺血、心肌缺血、肥胖、巴金森病具有治療作用,積極和企業(yè)合作開發(fā)氫氣水等相關(guān)產(chǎn)品,并在企業(yè)贊助下建立國(guó)際上第一個(gè)專門研究氫氣生物學(xué)效應(yīng)的氫氣醫(yī)學(xué)研究中心,而且他自己熱心幫助和指導(dǎo)年輕學(xué)者開展氫氣生物學(xué)研究,也積極開發(fā)相關(guān)氫氣相關(guān)產(chǎn)品,大力推動(dòng)日本氫氣臨床轉(zhuǎn)化醫(yī)學(xué)研究,撰寫多部健康有關(guān)科譜書籍,對(duì)日本和國(guó)際氫氣生物醫(yī)學(xué)的發(fā)展作出了不可替代的作用。
